The Big Rigs Series now has a couple of weeks off as the trucks prepare for the Keystone State Nationals at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Brookville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 18 at 7:00pm.

WALKER TEAM 1 - 2 AT MERCER RACEWAY

Jerry and Jeremy Walker from Indiana and Illinois respectively invaded the Big Rigs Series on Sunday at Mercer Raceway Park and took away both of the top two places in the event.  Jerry Walker from Cayuga, Indiana placed his 2008 Peterbilt named “Double Down” in first place while his son, Jeremy Walker from Dansville, Illinois took the runner-up spot with a 2010 Peterbilt named “Down and Out”.  Both of the trucks are powered by 3406 CAT engines.  The Walker Team are perennial favorites on the Illinois State circuit and have also claimed their share of national—level wins at places like the Indiana State Fairgrounds and at Bowling Green, Ohio.  Jerry Walker also won at the Lake County Fair in Painesville, Ohio on the NTPA Grand National circuit a year ago.

The pull at Mercer Raceway Park marked the start of the season for the USA-EAST sanctioned Big Rigs Pulling Series.

Rob Rodgers from South Zanesville, Ohio picked right up where his neice, Kendra, left off last year by placing his truck called “Unpredictable” in the 3rd position and laying claim to the top spot in the Big Rigs Series point race as the 2011 season got underway.  Rodgers gleaming dark red Mack was very strong in its debut and showed the rest of the Big Rigs that it would be a contender for the laurels this season.

Fourth place went to newcomer, Bill Christ from Galion, Ohio with his great looking Kenworth named “Sticks and Stones”.  The KT-600 powered machine looked like it too would be in a position to stalk the leaders in the new season.  The Sanders’ Team was 5th and 6th as Richard Scott piloted the “Silver Bullet II” and Dale Francis drove for Fred Sanders on the “Silver Bullet I”.
