FIRST HOOK OF THE  2011 SEASON --

Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 29....The pull at Mercer Raceway begins at 6:30pm, but semi truck fans will want to arrive early as some members of the Pennsylvania Posse street licensed division will be running ‘test and tune’ hooks on the track starting at 6:00pm.

EIGHT PRE-COMMIT TO 2011 BIG RIGS SERIES

The Big Rigs Pulling Series has eight trucks signed up in the pre-commitment program for the upcoming season.  Each of the pre-committed trucks will receive a travel stipend of $100.00 at each of the point events in the series in 2011.  And each of the pre-committed trucks will be guaranteed a purse check of at least $500.00 at all eight of the Big Rigs Series point pulls this summer.  This program has helped to increase the number of pre-committed trucks to eight for the upcoming season.

Leading the way is last year’s Big Rig Series Champion, Kendra Rodgers from Philo, Ohio, with her ultra consistent six-cylinder Mack named “Unleashed”.  Kendra took her first crown in 2010 despite her young age and relative inexperience and will be back this year for a repeat performance.  The Rodgers’ Team has also signed up the “Unpredictable” Mack with a very similar six cylinder design with that truck to be driven by Chad Rodgers from South Zanesville, Ohio.

The Fred Sanders’ Excavating Team from Zanesville will return with two past champions in the Big Rigs Series.  Team captain, Fred Sanders will drive his “Silver Bullet I”, fresh from the Francis Engineering shops in Leroy, Ohio and sporting a new V-8 Mack for power.  SB I was the Big Rigs Series winner in 2009.  Team mate and crew chief, Richard Scott from Palmyra, Ohio, will handle the driving duties on “Silver Bullet II”  another Mack but with a Cummins QXK-19 under the hood.  Scott drove this truck to the 2008 Big Rigs Series top spot.

Dan Adams from Leetonia, Ohio moved his truck into 2nd place in the Big Rigs points a year ago – the highest finish ever for Adams.  Dan’s “Some Assembly Required” is another V-8 Mack but with only a single turbo charger.  The pre-committed Adams will shoot for his first-ever championship this summer.

Another pre-committed truck is “Sneaky Pete”, a CAT-powered Peterbilt owned by Joe Guilitto from Ravenna, Ohio.  This truck was new a year ago but still managed to win two events in the 2010 Big Rigs Series and could be a major factor in the upcoming season.  There has never been a CAT-powered champion in the Big Rigs Series!!

Don Snyder, Jr. from New Springfield, Ohio is a past champion with the Big Rigs (2002) with his “Mr. Nasty” Big Rig.  The gleaming Pete is powered by a Cummins QXK-19 engine with triple turbo-chargers.  A new transmission to replace the one that exploded at the end of last season has been installed and “Mr. Nasty” is said to be ready to contend again this season.

A newcomer to the Big Rigs Series for 2011 will be Bill Crist from Galion, Ohio.  Christ’s modified semi named “Sticks and Stones”  spent the last season on the Ohio State circuit and finished in the number three position in points, but will move in with the Big Rigs pre-committed group this year.  This truck will definitely figure into the 2011 chase to the top.

There are eight stops in the Big Rigs Series in 2011 starting at Mercer Raceway Park in Mercer, Pennsylvania on Sunday, May 29 and running to September 24 with the BIG RIGS FINALS at Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.   The pull at Mercer Raceway begins at 6:30pm, but semi truck fans will want to arrive early as some members of the Pennsylvania Posse street licensed division will be running ‘test and tune’ hooks on the track starting at 6:00pm.
