"HOOSIER INVADER" GRABS TOP SPOT AT PERRY COUNTY
HOOSIER INVADER GRABS TOP SPOT AT PERRY COUNTY
It was a very improbable winner in the OPEN Single-Charger Big Rigs class during the 2009 “Perry Pull-Of
f”
at New Lexington, Ohio on Saturday, June 6, 2009. A huge crowd was on hand for the second ed
ition of wha
t will ultimat
ely become and annual event. The semi class for any truck with one turbo-charger included Big Rigs and some still street licensed semis. The pull was sanctioned through USA-EAST Sled Pulling of St. Petersburg, Pennsylvania and was produced by Full Pull Productions, Inc. The Decision Maker GREEN weight transfer was used as the sled for this event.
Mark Haselby from Royal Center, Indiana made the long trek to New Lexington a worthwhile adventure
as he captured the win with the only Full Pull of the class. Haselby’s “Just Squeekin’ By” Peterbilt was a regular with the NTPA Super Semis in 2008 and is slated to compete for the NTPA crown again this summer. “I just got the truck together yesterday”, said an excited Haselby in the winner’s circle. “And I needed to get a hook on the truck before heading up to Tomah at the end of the month”. Haselby’s machine is a 1981 Peterbilt with a 3406 CAT for power. And with a win under his belt, Haselby may hit the Big Rigs pull at Brookville, Pennsylvania on June 20th – the week prior to Tomah.
Second place went to the vastly improved Dale Mitchell with the Cummin-powered “Freight Rod” from nearby Mount Gilead, Ohio at 297.2. Another local favorite was 3rd as Kendra Rodgers pushed the Rodgers’ Team’s Unleashed Mack to a mark of 290 feet. Karen Brown had the top street licensed semi in the class as she grabbed fifth place with a well-prepared Mack from the Jim Brown Trucking Team from Caldwell, Ohio.
The next Big Rigs event is the aforementioned Keystone State Nationals at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Brookville, Pennsylvania on Saturday, June 20 at 7:00pm.
